Finder to finished copy

A privacy pass in four concrete steps.

FaceBlur is not a timeline editor. It is a narrow handoff from Finder to a menu bar cockpit, built for choosing detected faces and exporting a safe copy.

01

Finder selection

Start where the video already is.

Right-click one movie file in Finder and choose Quick Actions, then Blur Faces.
02

Automatic analysis

Face candidates are detected for review.

The app samples frames locally, detects face candidates, and groups repeated observations.
03

User choice

Select the people who should be blurred.

Candidate thumbnails make the decision visible before anything is exported.
04

Redacted copy

Export a separate file next to the original.

The original video stays untouched. The finished copy can be revealed in Finder.

Local-first by default

The selected video stays on the Mac.

FaceBlur is built around Vision, AVFoundation, Core Image, SwiftUI, and the Finder Action Extension. The workflow does not need accounts, sync, analytics, cloud processing, external machine learning models, or batch queues.

Product evidence

The menu bar cockpit shows what will be redacted.

Candidate thumbnails are the trust surface. The user chooses which face candidates to blur, then exports only after a selection is made.

Visible before export Source file name, analysis state, candidate rows, observation counts, selected state, and export action.
Not part of V1 No account flow, media library, manual mask editor, timeline tools, or batch processing.
Finder finish Completion points back to the filesystem with a redacted output file and Reveal in Finder.

Made for clips people actually send

For fast redaction before sharing.

  • Share school clips without exposing every student.
  • Send workplace recordings after a fast privacy pass.
  • Prepare research footage before review or archive.
  • Clean up public-event video before posting.
  • Blur family videos before forwarding a clip.
